Don McCann practices family law. He has been a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers since 1994. He has served as an adjunct professor of law at Willamette University College of Law 1977-1978, 2007, and 2010. Prior to joining the firm in 1977 he worked as a Securities Examiner for the state of Oregon. He is admitted to the bar in Oregon, the US District Court for the District of Oregon, the US Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. Don attended the University of Puget Sound and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington. Following his graduation from college he entered the United States Navy, where he attained the rank of Lieutenant, serving from 1969 to 1972, the last two years aboard the USS Hancock. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Willamette University College of Law. He is a member of the Marion County Bar Association, having served on the Board of Directors from 1980 to 1989, and was president in 1989. He also is a member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, American Association for Justice (formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA)) and the Willamette Valley American Inn of Court (WVAIC). He was on the Board of Directors of WVAIC from 1992 through 1996 serving as its president 1995-1996. Don has coached youth basketball and baseball and served as a scout leader. Don served on the 21st Century Council at Sprague High School and coached the school’s mock trial team for eight years. He is a member of St Paul’s Episcopal Church periodically having served on various committees. He has been actively involved in the Campaign for Equal Justice and Willamette University College of Law Mentor Program. He has twice received the Marion County Legal Aid Service Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year and received the Marion County Bar Carson Award for Service to The Bar in 2007.
