If I were to be called on by the Queen, she would call me Kathleen. However, normal folk just call me Kate. I love walking in the rain wearing Birkenstocks, daydreaming about growing taller, chocolate-covered strawberries in April, and laughing until I cry. I am the new-ish (I was hired this past April) addition to DesignPoint and I couldn’t be happier! I started this journey that is life in a teeny tiny town west of Eugene, Veneta. I grew up on a cattle farm, and yes, I did have a pet cow.
When it was time to move off the farm in search of higher education, I decided to move to an even smaller town, Jamestown, North Dakota, where I attended college for two years and began my degree in nursing. I realized that art was my calling and transferred my sophomore year to Eastern Washington University which is also in a petite town, Cheney. There I found my passion, creativity, and myself. I graduated June of 2013 and was hired immediately with a restaurant group in Spokane as their Marketing Manager. I worked with them, furthering each restaurant’s brand for two years.
I made the move back to my wonderful home state of Oregon in September 2015 and worked in Beaverton for a media company. One glorious day, I received an email from DesignPoint in reply to a cold call I had made. I came in, met the guys, and the rest is history! Since April, we’ve been telling jokes, having Nerf gun fights, battling over Sour Patch Kids, and even working sometimes (just kidding, we actually work really hard).
I am so grateful for this opportunity to work under the best designer I know, Aaron, and learn the way of business from an amazing entrepreneur, Deryk. These men have already made me a better designer and person. I love working with our clients and tackling new and exciting projects everyday. I look forward to what the future brings (hopefully a bigger Nerf gun so I can beat Aaron), and to helping more clients create something truly magical.
Stop in and say hello anytime! I’m the short, crazy-curly-haired, loud girl in the corner! Lets make something pretty together!
